Launching a Magazine — The Diary of an Entrepreneur #1

The launch of a magazine.

Interesting how 1 idea can lead to 17 before you even know it! Okay, maybe 17 is an exaggeration. But that’s how it feels. It’s January 2024 and somehow the biggest project I have ever launched … has launched!

It hasn’t even been 1 month since the start of it all. One moment I was working on my current day to day to-do lists between my booked out 1:1 consulting packages to running the monthly membership community I host, and then…BAM!

The moment between “am I going to do this thing” to “doing this thing” was brief. So brief you could not have cooked an egg faster!

1 month ago I announced that I would be launching a magazine.

Start with Entrepreneurship Magazine. A magazine by entrepreneurs for entrepreneurs. In theory it would have articles written by entrepreneurs about business, behind the scenes stories, real life roadblocks, and all things entrepreneurship. There would be spreads of products, artwork, entertainment and more. It would be OUR magazine!

Now you may think, “Oh cool! I wonder when this will start?”

Well, let me tell you, a few days after announcing it, I put out a call for submissions, hired a tech team to build the site and handle the online purchasing platform, and started teasing sales.
2 Weeks after that I had 17 submissions in my new magazine Gmail account, a website ready to go, and a button online to purchase.

A BUTTON ONLINE TO PURCHASE.

TO PURCHASE A MAGAZINE I JUST THOUGHT ABOUT LAUNCHING.

A MAGAZINE THAT HASN’T BEEN MADE YET.

TO BE SHIPPED TO YOUR DOOR IN A FEW WEEKS………..

What did I just get myself into!?

Then, pre-sales. It’s been 2 weeks and I have averaged 1 sale per day.

That was 3 days ago, there have now been 18 sales, the magazine is almost ready to be sent to the printer, and here we are. Moments away from this print magazine being in the hands of the customer, you!

How!? What just happened?!
Is this real life!?
